Hostel | Welcome to Åkerlundska Gården! The hostel is located on Laxfjället in Tärnaby, with views over Lake Gäutan and the mountains. A Västerbotten estate with loads of ambience and atmosphere!
Åkerlundska Gården was built for STF in 1927, designed by John Åkerlund. The estate was renovated in 2001 to its original state. Everything that was possible to build according to the original plans was recreated. Furniture was made according to original plans, curtains were weaved in the original patterns. But of course some modernisation has occurred. After all, running water and other small comforts did not exist in 1927...
Today there are 10 rooms, with a total of 22 beds, most with toilets and showers in the corridor. Both rooms on the ground floor have their own bathroom. Several rooms have lake views but not all.
On the ground floor, there is also a pleasant dining room and common room, both with open fireplaces. The kitchen is fully equipped, also with a dishwasher.
There is also a sauna in the basement with room for many people and it is possible to book the spa bath outside (by telephone).
From Åkerlundska Gården it is only one minute to the mountains (right on the doorstep), the lake with boats and canoes is only 150m away. In the winter the lifts and downhill ski slopes are 30m away.
The reception (08.00 to 21.00) is at Tärnaby Fjällhotell, where you can also eat breakfast. The restaurant with lots of delicious mountain specialities is also here.
